“The best thing about nudist magazines is that they give you a newfound appreciation for clothing,” says Peter Carlson of The Washington Post.
“The glitziest fashion spread in the history of Vogue is not as good an advertisement for clothes as a nudist magazine’s simple black-and-white photo of a pudgy middle-aged couple just sort of standing there buck naked,” he says in his story on Uncovering Naked Truths.
Meanwhile, Campaign Desk takes AP to task not only for not revealing the naked truth about a Bush campaign speech, but for getting it wrong.
“What we have here is a good example of the two-pronged challenge that hapless readers so often face: In addition to being fed artfully-phrased spin by the candidates, they also have to contend with reporters who seem unable even to render that rhetoric accurately — much less explain to readers where it falls short. It’s amazing any of us know anything at all,” said Desk’s Zachary Roth.
