We have just learned that Frances DeVore, 92, an award-winning and trailblazing journalist whose career with the Star-Banner spanned almost 60 years, passed away Wednesday morning at her home near Reddick.
DeVore helped found the Florida Women’s Press Club, originally to fight inequities that kept women from career advancement in the news industry. This club became the Florida Press Club.
The Florida Press Club’s board expresses our deepest condolences to the family and thanks her for founding the club. She will be sorely missed.
