The New York TImes’ recently published editor’s note basically recanting its pre-war coverage of WMD didn’t name any names, but it seems everyone else in the fourth estate has formed a ring around Judith Miller with fingers pointing inward.
Some say her stories touting Iraqi capabilities, gleaned from the now discredited Ahmad Chalabi and confirmed by neocons in the Defense Department, were actually much more damaging to the Times and the nation than the fictitious scribblings of Jayson Blair.
Franklin Foer has a long profile of Miller on the New York Magazine web site that is a “must read” if you have ever engaged in newsroom gossip.
