“Today” show host Matt Lauer cancelled a Saturday interview with Palm Beach Post gossip columnist Jose Lambiet just hours before a fund-raiser at The Breakers in Palm Beach.
” I’m told, he was leery of subjecting himself and his friends, including Bryant Gumbel and Greg Norman, to the tender mercies of someone who’d toiled for supermarket tabloids that had published allegedly scurrilous items about him and some of his pals,” the New York Daily News‘s Lloyd Grove reports in his gossip column.
” The 40-year-old Lambiet (who spent four years covering cops at The News in the 1990s) worked for the celebrity slagging Star Magazine and the National Enquirer before joining the Palm Beach paper in March,” Grove wrote.
“We do an edgy column, and I guess that Matt didn’t want to be in it,” Lambiet responded.
