New Times: Boca Magazine plagiarized Post

StaffNews

When a Boca Raton Magazine story on a bust at what police claim is a high-class Boca Raton brothel contained multiple paragraphs closely resembling those written by Palm Beach Post reporter Stephanie Slater, New Times columnist Bob Norman called foul.

“A lot of other media pick up newspaper stories and use them without attribution. It’s common practice. It’s annoying when it happens. But we’re not picking any fights with Boca Magazine,” Post editor, John Bartosek, said.

“Well, I’ll do it for them, then, since plagiarism is a nasty bit of business and I believe it happened in this case,” Norman wrote.

Slater currently serves as president of the Florida Press Club.
