The Tampa Tribune has slapped the St. Petersburg Times with a trademark infringement suit over a weekly tabloid The Times wants to launch in March.
The name Tampa Bay Times is so similar to the mark Tampa Times, owned by the Tribune, that it will confuse readers, the Tribune said.
Ironically, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office cancelled the Tribune‘s ownership of the name Tampa Bay Times last year because the Tribune hadn’t used it in three years.
