General assignment reporter Marcus Franklin was shot in the stomach by a man attempting to rob him in Baton Rouge Sept. 5. He was treated and released from Baton Rouge General Hospital but doctors did not remove the bullet saying it was too risky.
Franklin, a three-year veteran of the St. Petersburg Times, was flown back to St. Petersburg in an air ambulance chartered by the paper.
